Possibly his best friend.

At one time. Unless they've patched things up in private Dave ain't fukking with him.

Dude has said on a few podcasts. He's reached out .they've even talked on some "hey, how you doing? good, OK, see you later stuff"

Neil said they both matured branched out in different ways as this comedy career/lifestyle will have you doing.

Aot of the stuff he said basically was him saying Dave aint fukking with him. Back that was 3-4 years ago

but....but....but....the Surviving R. Kelly documentary told me Kellz was scared to leave his house as a kid and not hard at all :ohhh:

I guess that Lifetime production was not entirely truthful. How Shocking. :comeon:

They've been back rocking for around 3/4 years now.

It's not that they were beefing, the split just caused a weird vibe (plus like you said, growing up, families etc.). But they're cool again. Dave hit him up and Neal wrote the Chappelle/Rock SNL skit and they've performed together a few times.

I know some people aren't gonna like that though since Neal as the villain is a popular stance to take (for some reason) lol

Glad to hear that. Like you reiterated there was never beef.

The way Neal explained it, they had worked together for so long then business started to take them and pull them in different directions then the Chapelle show thing happened and when Dave disappeared their friendship was fragmented yet open ended. They did communicate but it was brief it wasn't warm like friends or best friends but in a way that's how Dave is/was. Neal never wanted things to end or be bad, he's stated he'd rather have the fun of starting out and grinding writing jokes and skits with Dave then all the success.

Dave never really spoke about Neal. And this was all about 3-4 years ago before or around the time Neal was launching his Netflix special.

I'm glad to hear they kept it rocking.

Why is Neal the villain?

:yeshrug:

People seem to take the fact that Neal is openly the co-creator and co-writer of Chappelle's Show as a "thing".

Some people don't like the concept because they feel like it's a way to take creative credit away from black artists.

Some people don't believe it because they see people like Neal Brennan as "handlers" who are there on behalf of the industry to rein in black artists.

While that might be the case in some instances, nothing about this situation says that. They're 2 friends who are the same age who met, worked together and created heat. One just happened to be the star of the show and the other was behind the scenes. Neal was never "assigned" to Dave. Everything they did together they did together. shyt, the story for Half Baked was Dave had a meeting with a movie studio, they asked him if he had an idea - he said he's writing a weed movie with a guy called Neal Brennan (they weren't). Neal got a phone call and bluffed his way through it and they wrote Half Baked in a month or something to try and BS their way through the lie :russ:

Neal Brennan has nothing to do with Dave Chappelle as a comedian or funny human being. But if you're a black person and you love Chappelle's Show then you should have 0 smoke with Neal.
