I get why bro ain’t get renewed but I feel like this type of stuff has long term effects on talent
I remember when the lakers extended Kobe post-Achilles tear and as a fan I was pissed at the time because I knew it meant the lakers weren’t going to even have a chance at being competitive for at least the duration of his contract
And we weren’t. We sucked. Fast forward, LeBron James ends up coming to LA years later and what major reason does he cite as one of the reasons he picked the lakers? The way they treated and honored Kobe on his way out..
Now I’m not saying truth is Kobe, but what I am saying is the way long tenured talent is handled matters to other talent. This will have ramifications even if they aren’t visible right away
