There was only one modern African nation that was not actually colonized, but that was in name only. That nation was Liberia. No European power seized it, because to seize Liberia would have probably meant declaring war on the USA. The USA never colonized Liberia either, however Liberia was founded by the American Colonization Society and that organization and the Country of Liberia had very close ties to the USA for a very long time.
