Montreal itself is pretty diverse depending on which neighborhood you go to.
As far as the french, it depends on where you go in quebec. Some places i have no idea what the fukk they're saying. As far as how france see it, it's the equivalent of a british person going in the deep south of the USA and not understanding the southern accent and grammar. French in quebec is different than french in france in that respect. Montreal has a lot of immigrants from french speaking countries so the french is more "standard". Living in Montreal, if i had to guess, I'd say i live 60% in English, 40% in french.
I feel like the racism here is more cowardly and hypocritical.
