You could be right...maybe the poster @spliz may know the whole truth since he is acquainted with The God.

But Ra mentioned on his last album that he had setbacks his whole career.

Yea basically he signed off on Eric and Eric fukked him over and wouldn't sign off on him..Eric fukked Ra outta MAD bread...

Eric B must've been major in the streets. Didn't he make G Rap move to Arizona or something back in the days?

He was a fukkin goon. Half of his crew were nothing but East New York Brooklyn niqqas. He was mans with the guy that shot Pac at that studio. shyt...I thought Ra was from BK with all the damn Brooklyn knuckleheads he has around him. I remember being mad finding out he was from Long Island. :heh:

I love Rakim's work with Eric B. That minimalist haunting production suited his aesthetic so well. He could make the most tame line sound hard "thought I was a donut, you tried to glaze me".

I think he missed a trick when he went solo. I preferred him when he's on that fly get money i am a better rapper than you shyt than the esoteric big production stuff. Oh well artists have to grow and I don't hold that against him.

True legend of the genre :salute:

They had to sign off for each other to go solo. Rakim signed off Eric and we got this

:mjlol:

Eric wouldn't return the favor so Rakim was left in contract limbo for 4 years of his prime.
