Lil Uzi aint even top 5 in his class

Rakim didnt need to adapt because he was literally the only bridge in hiphop
Imagine the power to take a culture and a whole movement at its peak

and completely do alfred hitchcock shyt to it and make it so much better technically, and map out the vibe and structure of it for the next 30 years

He is similar to MJ with seeing him at the time was like watching a person that stepped out of a time machine
None of these new cats are doing anything new at all, thats why they went through the rockstar phase... they couldnt cope with not being shyt
so they didnt even label themselves as rappers. Alot of weaker or should I say (unpopular) underground shyt from late 90s and all that overly abstract shyt
mixed with wayne's free form flow is all these dudes replicate. A few artists rap rap, but like Jcole, Kendrick and whatever... they arent from an era where they have shyt to say... they just rap about everyday shyt.
They are dope, but none of their songs hold weight or have a style that fits their vibe, because they dont have a vibe at all. Compare Tribe to RUNDMC to Outkast, they all have definitive sounds that are easily recognizable and easy to point out. Nowadays you can only say styles by "oh this is strip club music" "oh this is a pete rock introspective rip off" "oh this is forced abstract music" you can plug and play different artists into each box without having the unique flavor that makes us feel music. Every genre has had unique flavor, its why when you listen to jazz you can tell the artists without them saying one word. Rakim not only came and changed shyt at the perfect time, he also sounded perfectly unique and generic at the same time... his sound was midnight and his rhymes reflected exactly where he took us. Kind of how Gangstarr just sounds like pure great hiphop, nothing fancy just that perfect shyt. Certain artists have that perfect timing and vibe, like RUN-DMC. They check all the boxes at the perfect time.

Ft. Stewart, Ga
Says first time he heard Summertime he thought it was him:russ: Reconfirms he didn’t write the song but says Will Smith definitely bit his style and at first he felt like he got robbed.

-Still kinda tight at MC Serch for even saying he could ghostwrite for him. Reconfirms he has never used a ghostwriter

-Says DJ Hot Day told him Nas was coming with Illmatic. When he heard it he didn’t think Nas was biting his style.

-Says he loves Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Busta Rhymes, and Pun

-Says that streaming is lucrative for him and he appreciates the evolution.

- His top songs on itunes are Guess Whose Back, The Watcher 2, The Saga Begins, and some joint with Linkin Park:mjlol:

-Says he went through a hard period when recording with Dre. Says he did about 10 tracks (or verses) with Dre that have never been heard

-Says him and Dre couldn’t get on the same page. Says he had no interest in doing gangsta rap.

-Says him and Eric B had three more albums on their contract. Eric B wanted Rakim to do a solo joint and then eric b do a solo joint and then they come back together to the last album. Rakim signed off for Eric B to do his album but Eric B wouldn’t sign off for Rakim to do his joint because he was afraid that Rakim would go 100% solo and leave him behind.

-Says he was strategic about his interactions with KRS ONE and Kane and he never disrespected them but he also never let them get close to him because that was the “street” mentality he grew up with.

-Says he speaks to Nas and keeps in touch with Styles P. He’s more open to talking to rappers now than he was when he was younger

-Says out of the Eric B and Rakim material he produced 80% of the music himself. Says he’d go to the producer with the records and tell them which records to sample and loop.

-Says he enjoys working with Kanye West and that Kanye’s energy is “bananas”.

loads of new forms of hiphop has come and evolved even in the last 10 years so you comparing outkast to run dmc is void
you a troll
hardly anything has been new technically
alot of the shyt has been done before or is a rehash of a certain area's sound

the comparison is a new sound, I know you get it.

Uzi is cool but he sounds like alot of other shyt too... I actually like him
Just listened to that song, not only does he punch in every line... this is basically Lil Waynes flow from 14 years ago which proves my point
even XXX tentacion just did a weak version of indie rock and mixed it with angst and teenage rebellion. Other than him being a dumbass, he didnt really have shyt to talk about...
thats why he related his music to Kurt Cobain to look deep. Even though it had nothing in common with that shyt at all.

Thats another reason why I cant get 100% behind Jcole and newer artists, honestly white people and 2004 already did all this shyt... Asher Roth and being average and relate-able was the wave back then ... with the internet now and freedom we have... its cool to be marketable as average. But honestly its played the fukk out to not have charisma, similarly but opposite.... the "average" woman is a stripper now. I dont knock it, because I have other shyt to listen to... but its nothing that moves me. What you could say is, being bullied and a fakkit is what this era brought to the table. Not even making jokes but thats facts, they made being inferior cool.
