No necessarily. We only heard one side of the story from a not so reliable source. Are you defending Dre?
Rakim is the same dude who barely made music in the 90's. Dre was a lifeline at that point nobody was checking for him like that.

He was there before 50 and had some of the same beats that were used after.
Let us be honest about the situation. Rakim failed himself. He could have done anything like the song with Truth hurts for a whole album.
This dude known for his big ego and abrasive personality, he don't gel well with others. He definitely took on the GOD complex.
yes he can be all that but not everyone putting up with it.Lol "his big ego and abrasive personality". You write for a gossip column or some shyt my guy? When you top 5 dead or alive, you can be arrogant. The big homie more than earned the right.
He still made some gangster shyt on the 7th Seal though, and all of the best tracks on that album were produced by people Aftermath had worked with. Nottz, Needlz, Jake One and Ty Fyffe.
It wouldn't be a stretch to see this sort of content on an Aftermath album. I don't really see what part of his art would have been compromised when this was the final output anyway.
Rakim should of followed Dres direction, imagine an album full of these

Look..I know that other established artists like Eve and Busta had creative issues with Dre. as well so I think there’s some truth there. However, I don’t fully believe that Rakim couldn’t work so,e of those differences out as well and I doubt Dre wanted Rakim to sound like Mc Ren on every damn song.
So Rakim wouldn’t have had to “sacrifice his art” as much as he open to a creative direction that would’ve boosted his career. The Truth Hurts sing is an example of that and he could’ve built off of that.
That said, there are a lot of shelved artists that have worked with Dre and the common denominator is Dre.
