He still made some gangster shyt on the 7th Seal though, and all of the best tracks on that album were produced by people Aftermath had worked with. Nottz, Needlz, Jake One and Ty Fyffe.
It wouldn't be a stretch to see this sort of content on an Aftermath album. I don't really see what part of his art would have been compromised when this was the final output anyway.
Rakim should of followed Dres direction, imagine an album full of these
honestly, I'm a huge Rakim fan but that album was a disappointment to me outside of "Holy Are You"

Look..I know that other established artists like Eve and Busta had creative issues with Dre. as well so I think there’s some truth there. However, I don’t fully believe that Rakim couldn’t work so,e of those differences out as well and I doubt Dre wanted Rakim to sound like Mc Ren on every damn song.
So Rakim wouldn’t have had to “sacrifice his art” as much as he open to a creative direction that would’ve boosted his career. The Truth Hurts sing is an example of that and he could’ve built off of that.
That said, there are a lot of shelved artists that have worked with Dre and the common denominator is Dre.

there was stubbornness on both sides, im sure. i tend to side w/ Ra cuz hes my GOAT but i respect Dre and his meticulous process. Ra is used to doing things his way, so is Dre and its his label so thats prolly where it ended
