I get that, but it does call into question what exactly he's going to do once he gets into office. If he caters to the far right to get the nomination have to assume he's going to continue to do so once in office. Its hard to see what currently makes him different from the rest of the republican party and hoping he's just bullsh*ttin right now seems overly optimistic.

This strategy may get him the nomination, but unclear it will get him the independents he will need in a general election.

i would say he comes from a different part of the republican party than somebody like jeb bush, but hes still republican, hes still a right leaning candidate

but to me hes more palatable than the rest of the republicans and i would definetly vote for rand over hillary

i suggest for black people split their vote, im voting for rand for president and kamala harris for the senate

he just announced his candidacy and the first words out of his mouth were "we're taking on the establishment" (or something to that effect)

thats a big thing to say "and?" to

everybody candidate says that, why is that a big deal?

are you for the establishment or something?

When I first read the article I felt like a lot of Rand's words were being twisted and taken out of context. Does anyone else agree or nah?

There is a difference between saying "I'm going to change Washington because I get results" and saying "I'm going to change Washington because I'm philosophically different from those people"

it is, its just a hit piece by a liberal website to coral all the wandering sheep that may be interested in rand

i bet you last week (or will have next week) they had an article saying how libertarianism will bring hell on earth......so if they were intelectually serious, the fact that rand is not a libertarian would be a good thing

But his dad is apart a the campaign team.
You won't hear much from him.
His son has been trying to muzzle him up about conspiracy theories to look more respectable.
Dude looked real uncomfortable when Ron Paul started theorizing about the Measles outbreak:mjlol:
Either way, this cast of GOP primary candidates might be as entertaining as in 2012.
By the time Rand is done pandering to all the far right special interest groups that make up the Republican Party’s base, look for a new record in flip-flopping.

Democrats, of course, are going to be over the moon about the whole thing. The Republican primaries leading up to the 2012 election were absolutely brutal. Republicans have become so conditioned to negative campaigning, they spent a year destroying each other in the dirtiest ways imaginable. Even worse, the numerous televised debates gave the country a crystal clear picture of just how sick and hateful the Republican Party had become. Remember, during the debates, the audience cheered the idea of executing innocent people, booed a veteran because he was gay, and really got off on the idea of letting a person die because they couldn’t afford health insurance.

The more fringe candidates that enter the fray, the nastier and crazier the primaries will be. That’s great news for both the Democrats AND the country!

Here’s to Rand Paul running for president for the next 30 years! Go, Rand! Go!

What do you think he will do differently from HRC?

i suggest for black people split their vote, im voting for rand for president and kamala harris for the senate
Never been clear on this, won't splitting the vote just devalue the black vote?

well my main issues are immigration and school choice, i actually think rand is weak on immigration, but i think a hillary presdiency will continue this corny ass effort to flood the labor market and grant amnesty to 11 million people, and i think the public school system should be eliminated and replaced with charter schools and vouchers

and i also think focusing on capitalism, entrepreneurship is a better way forward for black people than promises of government programs and republicans are better for that

civil rights is really a derivative of individual freedom, so IMO rands focus on individual freedom is more fundamental and more important than hillarys (and the democratic parties) supposed stand for civil rights

so i think rand is more for the future than hillary is

splitting the vote will definetly increase black poltical power, because it will make the parties fight for the black vote

a flawed article
for the gay part, he said he may find it offensive but would not vote against it saying it's none of his business.
So he is libertarian in that respect but also an individual, but for the voting record he's okay with it.

Abortion, same as his father, both believed life started at conception. Don't forget liberal progressives believe in abortion even during 3rd trimester, that's murder!

Increase in defense spending, yes... he's trying to win!

Rand would ave no problem with racism and advocates a world view that is more "free" but doesn't protect the rights of the underserved and underrepresented.

His "hands off" approach is a way of skirting any regulation that prevents abuses of civil rights
