as a duke fan, i honestly feel very conflicted about the possibility of adding bagley this year. it would instantly make us deeper in the frontcourt and a final four/championsip contender, but how should guys like bolden and delaurier feel about basically being bumped in the rotation after working hard, not transferring, and developing chemistry with the team this summer? it's not a good look to me from a recruiting perspective to add a guy this late and affecting chemistry and contentment amongst players already there with a hierarchy already seemingly establised. That's been the problem the last 2 years with derryck thornton joining the team late for the 15-16 season although we desperately needed a PG (but w/ his dad and trainer thinking he would be the #1 option) and last year with too many cooks in the kitchen w/ only 1 ball to go around. The 14-15 team was a perfect balance and this team as it stands seems to be as well. Senior experienced leader in allen (like quinn cook except better), #1 dominant freshman PG in duval (tyus jones), solid/versatile/defensive 3/4 freshman in trent (justise winslow/matt jones), low post presence in carter (jahlil okafor), and a defensive/rebounding big in bolden/delaurier (amile jefferson and marshall plumlee), w/ lower ranked but talented freshman like jordan tucker or alex o'connell (who will surprise people like grayson allen). There needs to be a deadline set by NCAA on guys reclassifying.
