Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
I never said it wasn't. They were gunning fot that number 2 pick but the fact is that they were unwilling to move unless randle was involved and the lakers were unwilling to move unless they kept randle lets me know that his trade value can get the lakers a better deal than mario who would be obselet since they have Clarkson and Russell.

I'm sure all of this made logical sense in your mind when you typed it. That's what matters at the end of the day.

Randle is not a starting caliber player in the modern NBA without a jump shot.

I agree but hes still essentially a rookie. A jumpshot can be developed overtime and hes still a project. I think them keeping the pick will determine which way they move forward and until then why make that trade unless its a no brainer, which in your scenerio it isnt.

Ok answer this for me. In what way would that trade scenerio benefit the lakers? What would mario bring to the table that would justify letting go of Julius Randle?

Well for one. Mario's skill set can be pretty much utilized on any team in the league.

Randle will need a lot around him to be successful in line with expectations. You can't play him in certain line-ups because of his limitations.

I agree but you didn't answer the question. Of course the lakers could use mario but what does he bring to the table to justify making that move especially since you have russell and Clarkson. If they had drafted okafor then maybe but i still think it is much better value out there.

Let me dream. :mjcry:

What do you think is a realistic trade scenario for Randle right now? Nance fits better in the modern NBA than Randle.
I don't think there is one at this point. You're not going to get any significant value in return unless he's packaged with D'Angelo to land a star. He has a unique skillset that would benefit a contending team looking to strengthen their second unit, but he's still far too young to just fit in and produce. Probably best just to keep hold of him and ride it out (only look to move him as part of a deal for a star), and see what he turns into.

Ok he gives them a wing player, does that justify trading randle. Why not just see if you can draft a wing player like a brandon ingram and still have randle to move for another piece or develop. Marios skill set is not a necessity for the lakers at all.

Idk. If they get a chance to draft ben Simmons they pretty much have to move randle at that point but thats the only way im rushing a trade with him.

its a shyt trade no matter how you cut it. randle doesn't help orlando at all and there's a wing to draft in every draft ever. dumb for both teams

Exactly. Im much rather pass on mario becoming a star than trading julius and he becomes one. I just dont see it.

Man... Mario might not become a star or whatever, but Randle is really a lot more worrying to be honest.

He may never be a good defender. You need a 7ft anchor beside him just to make him look like he might be competent one day. And for all the shyt MKG got, I'm waiting for the chorus to start on Randle's jumper. He had a whole year off and every shot he takes from 15 out may as well be a turnover. He'll be a great rebounder, and no questions on that really - its just.... how many teams can really get by on having a guy who's gimped on both offense and defense at the PF position and call themselves successful? He's got some massive hurdles in the future and there really aren't a lot of teams that can even afford to try and make him work like LA does. The fact that he's a black hole too ain't really helping him either.

Oh i agree. Im not big on julius at all but i see what his value is and unless we move him for something thats a no brainer then whats the point
