They wouldn't be dumb to max out a backup, the market was set for a guy like Noel when a backup like Biyombo got what he got. I'd keep Noel, defensive bigs don't grow on trees and he's a great insurance policy for Embiid. Noel is a center, he plays his best at center, so having Simmons & Saric to play PF doesn't matter that much. You don't trade BOTH of those guys, then you have absolutely no backup center.

It's irresponsible to max out a guy who in a perfect world, backs up Embiid (who is due a contract extension next summer). Besides, truth be told, Noel's not as good as people thought he was gonna be. They just gotta let it ride out this season and see what happens in the summer, but this is the biggest downside of all these Philly players getting hurt. They don't have much time to evaluate their games before it's contract time.

I disagree, I think Noel is excellent defensively, he was elite as a rookie when he played center and single handed had the Sixers as 13th in the league on defense, last year he was still elite but not as effective at PF. Noel is exactly what people thought he'd be, an elite rim protector, not sure what else he was supposed to be other than that.
