Not many, but it has virtually nothing to do whether he gets a triple double or not.
maybe not, but this is all unnecessary. Nitpick a guy's game because he's tries to go all out to do whatever it takes to win, which includes all the bad with the good.
At the start of the season people said Russ couldn't average a triple double. He couldn't sustain the statistics and if he tried he'd fall apart in his pursuit. He hasn't missed a game, he hasn't slowed down, and he's still averaging a triple double.
But that isn't good enough people. People want him to shoot less, but maintain the points per game; peple want him to turn the ball over less, but maintain the assists per game; they want him to be better and if he's not then it isn't good enough. I'm not saying he's above critique, but there's just some shyt I don't understand. People said Durant was justified in leaving the Thunder after their last meeting because Russ was so awful he got 11 turnovers. It didn't matter he scored 47 points, it didn't matter he shot 14/26, that he got to the line 18 times, and it sure as hell didn't matter what his teammates did or didn't do. It's what Russ didn't do or what Russ did wrong.
Rather than critique Russ for when he leaves his man too early to go after a rebound, people critique the percentage of rebounds that are uncontested. Should we talk about Russ averaging double the offensive boards than the 5th best point guards. The only non-big men averaging more offensive boards than Russ are Tony Allen/Giannis/MKG. People can spin it anyway they want, but Russ is the best rebounding point guard even if he didn't have the stats to tell it.
Russ is god awful shooter, right? That's what everyone wants to say. He shoots 42% percentage, so why the hell is he shooting so much? Probably because the Thunder have zero 40% 3 point shooters. Probably because there's only 3 players on Thunder shooting better from 3 than Russ(Grant at 39% with .6 3's per game, 1.3 Abrines at 38.1% with 1.3 a game, and Oladipo at 35.6% with 1.9 a game). Probably because even before Durant left there was fukk all 3 point shooting on this team to actually create space for someone that can get to the rim as effortlessly as Westbrook. Hell he's even shooting his career high from 3 and has shown some improvement from 3, but it doesn't matter because it's not good enough.
