What do you think happens with him this offseason? I've gone through the Knicks board here along with some others and all Knicks fans seem to hate him :mjcry:
Knicks fans are extremely reactionary - myself included.

I tend to be on the reactionary and defensive side so I still hope the best for the guy.

What happened was that his style of play, his personality and skill set werent compatible with the dysfunction known to the franchise.

I will say there were many times I witnessed him disregard KP and that was infuriating but I understand his hero mentality.

I really hope he succeeds on his next team.

I'll just say anyone who thinks KP is a center in the making needs to give up that dream. If he winds up a center, it'll be after he's 30 years old. Leave him at the 4.

No, long term his place should be at C, it's where he'd be the most dynamic and it would keep him closer to the basket on defense where his rim protection would be it's most impactful. Unless he stops eating and working out there's no way he's going to retain the mobility to play the 4 by the time he's 23-25, because he's going to put on weight naturally. Look at Whiteside and Gobert, they were both skinny as fukk when they came into the league, at the same age as Kristaps they were both stick figures.

Playing the 4 fulltime is too much stress on his joints, the fact he's even able to play the position is why they should transition him to the 5, his mobility even with an extra 15-20lbs would be too much for most 5s to handle. Right now, he's trying to use speed against guys who are naturally quicker than him at the 4.

@Malta look at the beloved work
for jovic claim of a mismatch still took a lot of work for a shaky looking hookshot:yeshrug:

If the cave actually made effort with defense like Bron tried there they would already have 50+ wins and not have to come back from deficits most games

It's only been me, and a couple of the Bulls brehs that have been defending him in the Knicks thread.

I want him to resign with the NYK, yes his defense his bad, but we haven't had a guard with his ability to get into the paint at will since the Marbury/Nate Robinson days. Knicks fans hate any player who doesn't compliment KP well. It's understandable, but hilarious that they continue to call out every other players' flaws on the team, yet stay quiet about KP's obvious flaws.

Porzingis at the 5 wastes Hernangomez. Also, if everyone had the same idea of moving their version of KP to the 5, he's gonna get drawn out of the paint to defend them. He's more equipped to roam around than Hernangomez or Noah would.

Whiteside and Gobert played the 5 due not just their height and defense but also because offensively the only place to use them is around the basket. Porzingis might not be as fast as other 4's but he'll never be as strong as other 5's. Also, adding that 15-20 pounds is not only far from guaranteed but it also could change his game. Since even you believe that transition is a long time from now it's not something to worry about right now with him. There's no point in grooming him for a position he shouldn't see til much later.

"Stretch (any position)" is code for "he doesn't really play that position but I'm hoping he can get away with it since I don't have a good enough player who really plays that position or the other team lacks that guy."

Porzingis at the 5 has the chance to be a transcendent talent, if Willy is wasted because of that then so be it. Personally, I'd love to see them go with a more outside the box approach and try to find a more mobile & defensive minded PF to put next to Porzingis. I don't know why you'd want your 7'3" guy chasing stretch bigs around on the perimeter, you want to talk about a waste, that's one. Mainly because Porzingis is an elite rim protector and having him guard PFs who are all standing in the corner to draw him out the lane is far worse than having him involved in PnR coverage between a PG & C.

No, groom him for the position so that he can hit the ground running by the time he's ready to play it full time. Right now, Porzingis can't play close to the basket because he's simply not strong enough, he will be able to absorb contact better and use his body the older he gets, sort of like Rudy and Whiteside did. Putting him at the 5 will allow him to use his dribble more against guys who aren't used to defending it. Again, he's not that far off from where Rudy was at the same age in terms of strength and build, there's no reason he can't get to the same level Gobert is at physically. You can't say he'll never be strong enough to play the 5, especially not in a league where Nerlens Noel can play it.

I don't think Porzingis is just a stretch big, what I see from him is a dude that can attack off the dribble, roll to the rim and he tries to post up but doesn't have the strength yet to utilize that part of his game. But he shows flashes all the time of post moves, counters and ability to play there, he simply needs to get stronger.
