I definitely understand some of the criticism DeMarcus Cousins receives but I hate the way this board shyts on Boogie. I guarantee most people haven't really watched much of Cousins before he was traded to New Orleans. I know the majority of this board does not watch Kings games.

It's about both breh. It's definitely technical too as well as an IQ/film watching thing. You gotta anticipate what your opponent is going to do based on their history and habitats. If you don't put in hours learning about different players then you won't know what to expect. Technical is making plays without fouling, contesting without fouling, etc. That isn't all effort. Effort is just a big part of it, as in the actual running around sticking to your guy and getting back on defense, but defense is definitely a technical thing too.

Players know what other players are doing and what theyre tendencies are,alot of guys just dont give a fukk until the playoffs or big national games or just dont care about defense at all and save there energy for offense...Defense is all just moving ur damn feet and hustling nothing more to it..Moving thru screens,rotating is just effort theres nothing technical about it....
Getting in ur stance and hounding the ball and creating steals and deflections is ALL effort.
Some players want to do it and some dont...The difference between a bad and good defender is quite simply the effort that good defenders are willing to exert on that side of the ball....
