The real reason the Suns didn't succeed under Earl Watson

"No defense is as bad as the Suns' has been so far this season, meaning improvement is inevitable thanks to simple regression to the mean. Still, if improving defensively is a priority, Triano -- previously the team's associate head coach -- is a curious choice. During Triano's two full seasons as a head coach for the Toronto Raptors, the team finished last in defensive rating both times.

Of course, the other assistant to Watson with any head-coaching experience was Tyrone Corbin, and his last Utah Jazz team finished -- you guess it -- last in the league in defensive rating."

"Too big, too strong, too fast, too good" :wow:

He'll inevitably get exposed against a team with great Interior/wing defenders though.

Yeah, he's gonna either gonna burn out or teams are just gonna fold their frontlines from the strong side in, and he'll be forced to generate more points from the perimeter. It's gonna be interesting to see how long he can keep this up for though.

Suns should just mimic the Rockets and have the offense run through Booker like the Rockets do with Harden.

The Suns will still lose games but at least the games will be somewhat exciting :yeshrug:

Lakers lost that game last night due to youth and nothing else. Two years from now, that same group of players that got them back in it would have won that game.

Lonzo needs a mentor, preferably a veteran/ex PG. The NBA looks to be a bit overwhelming for him right now. He’s playing very safe, which in a way is a good thing as it means he’s not trying to force plays that aren’t there, but he’ll have to start taking more risks with his dribble in order to jumpstart his development.

Two years from now (outside of Kuzma and Lonzo) those young players will be on other teams, and no, their 2 max FA slots won't be Paul George and Lebron, but Al Farooq Aminu and Rodney Hood.
