So, many teams have figured out how to beat zone defense, half-court pressure, weak side traps, etc..Teams have cracked the defensive schemes by acquiring multifaceted scorers, employing sophisticated offensive schemes and increasing the pace. The offense output has caught up with the defense. The NBA players are playing like the old school players of the 70s and 80s. The ball is moving and the pace is faster. It's hard for teams to set up a defensive scheme when the offensive is on the run for an easy score.

The game was played at 108 possessions - 124 points isn't that many points, considering. Plus, The Ewing Theory was in full effect; guys were forced to take on more of an offensive load, they were moving the ball more (the Bucks have actually been one of the worst teams at moving the ball this season), which led to them hitting 3-pointers well above their season average. It's not that defenses are a "joke", it's just the players and offensive systems just keep getting better, by maximizing points per possession and being smarter when attacking the D - no longer do you have all those basic ass, archaic, basketball-snobbery aesthetic post-up possessions that take up a third of the shot-clock.
