Last time they had the same record, they traded Rudy gay to the kings in order to tank. They almost traded Lowry for Shump and a first the next week but Dolan thought he was getting fleeced by Masai again

Tbh, it was kinda obvious during 2019 that this would be their future in 2 years. They had an elite but already aging core (Lowry, Gasol, Ibaka, Green) and there seemed to be this foregone conclusion that Masai would just pull a rabbit out the hat with someone like Giannis to keep the ball rolling.
But really, "Pascal and shooters" just seemed like the most likely future state... and that it'd come down to how good he could be, and where Lowry would want to spend the twilight years of his career.
