None of those rumors or accusations reached the league office before the accusations were made public, which is the same exact scenario that happened in Phoenix. I don't blame those GMs for feeling the way that they do about it. If you have an accusation take it to the league office instead of making it public first.
Even the coach's association used that move with all the fukkery in Minnesota. Going to the league office has lost its weight ever since the Lonzo/NOLA/Chicago shenanigans too. So may as well go for it. If the players have an organization for themselves, if the coaches do as well, then it's only fair that the GMs have one to go to bat for them. That's just how it works. Everybody is trying to look out for themselves
