I think both his back injury and mental health are/were probably in a worse state than we care to admit.

It's sad to see.

It's not the same player that was doing this -

I don't think we'll be seeing this version of him again, and that's a cotdamn shame.

And ppl wanted us to take him as the centerpeace trade for Herden :francis: look how well that’s turning out for Brooklyn

im prolly in the minority when i say i rather my squad be competitive night after night than playing the lotto every year. shyt aint fun to watch and doesnt guarantee you get out of the hole either once youre committed to it

There's always going to be value in being good, nothing wrong with wanting to support a team that can compete on any given night.

But no one wants to be like the Sacramento Kings in basketball hell, missing the playoffs 16 straight years. That's the worst case scenario. At the same time, you don't really want to be the Washington Wizards either, in basketball purgatory, stuck in this treadmill cycle every year where they're not good enough to contend but not bad enough to be likely to draft an elite prospect :manny:

RJ Barrett is trash I been saying this. His "potential" is so overblown :camby:
Also Evan Fournier is a terrible player and the fact the Knicks ever signed him shows that front office has no fukking clue what they're doing

You have to be honest with yourself about why you watch basketball.

If you can't be satisfied with anything less than a championship, then yeah being Portland sucks. If you don't want to watch a disinterested disenchanted roster where everybody leaves and it's not fun to watch, then being Portland works. Being bad long enough makes you hate watching basketball to where even if your team gets good again, it's not gonna mean anything to you.

paying RJ early never made sense to me. They got a bunch of guys on big deals yet Knicks fans will swear they can get anyone they want via trade with their picks (just their picks, cuz God forbid they deal Obi, Grimes or IQ)

I think this is it exactly. For me, my local team is the wiz but I’m a Baltimore nikka, through and through.

So I can drive an hour out, go to the games in dc and root for them but it’s not the same way I root for the ravens.

Them being mediocre to above average with players I like to watch (KP, Beal, Kuzma, Will Barton) is perfect because I can still enjoy the games in person, and the ticket prices ain’t crazy especially for teams like the Magic, Twolves etc who are small market teams that also have exciting players.

Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see the wiz contend for a title, but I feel like this is the ideal scenario for me at times
