Maybe he could've waited it out to see if he could've jockeyed for the vacancies MIL and PHI had this past summer, or the inevitability that will be Willie Green, Steve Clifford, and Billy Donovan at some point down the road.
He has this pedigree of being a leader, winner, and basketball mind as a player, but now that he cashed in that good will with the Portland job, idk. Perhaps still in the honeymoon phase in this first season without Dame, with no expectations to be anything other than trash.
