If as a law the person filing for the divorce was obligated to pay the legal fees, and then had to go without spousal support unless documented abuse was proven, and that in the case of spousal support, it would be set at preset levels of middle class americans adjusted to your current city of residence (e.g. $35K for Chicago), divorce rates would drop by 50% overnight. It should be a MAJOR reason for a divorce, but because it's basically free for the woman plus guaranteed income, it's actually a GOOD IDEA for a woman to file for a divorce. If a woman divorces 2-3 times to dudes she has children with she's set for life
