The 24 celtics are being underrated

Agreed, ChatGPT trippin lol

You can't knock the 2024 Celtics for the level of competition they faced (or the injuries to the opps) but then crown the 2017 Warriors when their near perfect record was a direct result of massive injuries. The '17 Spurs likely take them to 7-games the same way the '18 Rockets did the following year.

'14 Spurs were a shyt matchup for the small ball Heat, yet that same Spurs team went life n death game 7 in round 1 vs a 35 year old Dirk, 37 year old Vince Carter, and Monte Ellis as their leading scorer. Had a very close 6-game series vs OKC as well.

Or knockin the '19 Raptors to near the bottom for injuries to the Warriors, yet the '15 Warriors are top 6 when they literally benefited from the same injuries to CLE. '19 Raps likely go 7 if not beat the '15 GSW and '21 Bucks in a series.

There's just a lot of context in each playoff run that gets glossed over with the passage of time.

At least the Raptors, Nuggets, Bucks, 22 warriors, maybe even Celts
Outside of the 22 Warriors I think all those teams cook the 2011 Mavs and I think you're buggin' on the '24 Celtics. JJ Barea and Jason Terry getting ran off the floor. :hubie:

But are we stacking up each of these teams against how they would fair against each other?
Or
How each of these teams performed in their specific year/scenario?

Honestly that 2019 Raptor team is a top 5 Chip team

Theyd beat everyone on that list except the dynasties like Warriors/Heat

2014 Spurs and 2016 Cavs could probably get them

Other that too deep and big (:dame:) for any of those teams and they got bodies for every possible matchup.

Warriors are the best.

Nuggets, Bucks, Celtics and Mavs would beat everybody else except those Warriors all things being equal.

Those are the top 5 to me.

Bucks having Giannis, Middleton, Jrue and Lopez is actually an insane starting lineup.

Mavs team was deep, Dirk, Barea and Terry were balling out their minds.

That past their prime 2014 Spurs with an old Duncan and young Kawhi woulda washed that championship Celtics team from last year.

They were a clutch Ray Allen 3 pointer from beating the Heat in 2013 Finals and that was peak LeBron in my opinion on that Heat team. That Ray Allen shot changed the whole complexion of the rest of that series.

People forget how good they were because many considered their brand of basketball “boring.”

You realize that since Boston got KP/Jrue no team has taken them past 5 games?

That Spurs team damn near lost to Monta Ellis/Old Vince Carter/Old Dirk in 7 games and got bounced out the first round by the Clippers a year later.

Boston didn't even have a healthy KP like that and they stomped on the league. I think if they win this year people will really understand how wild that roster is:skip:

the thing about that Raptors team is that they would have repeated in the bubble if Kawhi stayed. Would have really enhanced that teams legacy in a big, big way. They went 53-19 without him and had one of the best defenses in the league

16 Cavs are too low. The 16 Cavs were certainly better than the 15 Warriors. The 14 Spurs are too high too, but it depends on the criteria.

Bucks went to an overtime game 7 against the Nets with Harden out for the entire series and Kyrie missing half of the series.

No way they beat the 2019 Raptors, 2014 Spurs, 2013 Heat, 2015 Warriors, 2016 Cavs.

Mavs definitely wouldn't beat those teams, either. Nuggets probably wouldn't either, they benefitted from the weakest playoff field in NBA history (they beat two play-in teams and not a single 50 win team).

2019 raptors are overlooked, underrated and ranked too low on that list. I find it hilarious when people casually dismiss this team. I guess it’s maybe Because the raptors aren’t a American-based marquee franchise like the lakers, Celtics, bulls, Knicks, Sixers or warriors. And for many people, the raptors are just a distant and foreign-based team from Canada with pretty much no fan or media presence in the USA. So as a result, very few people in the US are interested in them and talking about the raptors won’t bring ratings to American media conglomerates anyway, so that’s why they are ignored for the vast majority of the time in sports talkshows on espn like first take/pardon the interruption, etc.

Lakers, Celtics or Knicks will never leave people indifferent. They are love them or hate them franchises . They get computers puting like some brehs say. The media/fan Buzz is always around them. By comparison the Raptors don’t have that effect and impact on US media and sports fans. I mean there was only two times when the entire Basketball world was interested about the raptors more than usual. 2001 and 2019.The reasons Why ? Vince Carter and Kawhi Leonard were at their peak of glory. They were in their primes and played under the spotlight on the biggest stage of the league. All eyes were on them in these two years. Otherwise the raps are ignored by most sports fans outside Toronto. Nobody outside Toronto cared when the raptors had Bosh, DeRozan, siakam and Vanvleet as main characters of their team.

I also often read ignorant and repetitive statements about them. People prefer to believe in Narratives over reality.

« The raps only advanced to the finals because the east was weak as always that year »🤪😜😝

🤪😜Lol they only won the championship because golden state had injuries lol🤪

« with durant and Thompson on the team the warriors would three-peat lol »

« Kawhi and Lowry are the worst duo to win a chip »

« lucky ass team who won a fluke title🤪🤪 «

🤪« They didn’t face strong competition on their way to the finals »🤪

Well let me get some things straight. I will provide cold hard facts about that ‘19 raptors playoff off run

First, They were coached by mastermind Nick Nurse. And he was coaching the team with good decisions, smart tactics and sound player usage. He out-coached Steve Clifford(Orlando), Brett Brown ( Philadelphia), Mike Budenholzer(Milwaukee) and Steve Kerr (Golden State)

In round 1, The #2 seed raps beat this 7th seed Orlando magic led by all-star Nikola Vucevic in 5 games. Orlando had the best record in the second half of the 2018-19 season. They weren’t your typical low seeded playoff team. Orlando stunned everyone by taking a 1-0 series lead but Toronto demolished Orlando in the next four games to win the series in a gentleman’s sweep.

Orlando starting five in that 2019 first round series against Toronto

Aaron Gordon25:24413.30804.00037.42934711043111.7-32

Then they defeated the #3 seed Philadelphia Sixers in round 2(Jimmy butler, Joel embiid, jj reddikk, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons). Philly was a legitimate contender for the Larry O’Brien that year because they had a championship calibre starting five. But they had no bench. Raptors won the series in 7 games with the legendary Kawhi shot.

Then they beat the Best team in the regular season, the #1 seed Milwaukee Bucks 4 games to 2 in the conference finals ( the starters for the bucks: Giannis Antetokoumpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Eric Bledsoe, Nikola Mirotic. Their bench players: Micheal Brogdon, Ersan Ilyasova, Pat Connaughton and George Hill)

And finally they prevailed over The two time defending champions golden state warriors in 6 games in the finals and won their first ever title in their history. I don’t need to talk of their players, We all know everything about their roster that year. The warriors were also the #1 ranked team in the western conference. The raps even had a 3-1 series lead in that finals.

They had Demarcus “boogie” cousins, Quinn cook, Alfonso McKinnie, Shaun Livingston, and Andre Bogut coming off the bench. Luxury.

They beat all these great teams With great offense and defense

Toronto was deep that year. Great starting five and bench.

Our Starters in 2019 : Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard , Marc Gasol, Danny Green, Pascal Siakam

Our Bench players in 2019: Fred Van Vleet, Serge Ibaka, Norman Powell, Jeremy Lin

By the way, our best perimeter defender and 3 point shooter, OG Anunoby, was out because of injuries and didn’t play a minute of the 2019 playoffs.
