GKMC was more cohesive than LIG up until all those bonus tracks...like that weird strained Mary joint. :scusthov:

LIG was soooooo solid but if it's AoTY we're talking about, doesn't impact have to be part of the criteria? GKMC had a narrative, not just a memoir of one person's growth (which it did too, like LIG) but K. Dot defined this year with a story about gang-banging, becoming an artist, re-telling the stories of the dead.

Nas, for all the musical peaks he had on LIG, wasn't quite as together as GKMC. Just another flip through a mastermind's rhymebook, which is great and all, but you could get that any year from Nas. Won't make this album stand out against a new voice.

You might be right about impact:ehh: Most artist NaS' age are either:flabbynsick: and out the game or hanging on to their career by dikk riding the younger generation. So he's really not gonna inspire those in his age group and those younger than him haven't experienced life as much as he has to write an album like that.k. dot's album will have a greater impact because many of his peers can relate to his story and his success should inspire his peers to be more lyrical and creative.
I picked NaS cause I felt his peaks were slightly higher than kendricks but you can't go wrong either way:obama:

i been around the block too many times to be impressed by average dudes on that level.

take away the hype and its not much better than wale's joint. I was actually more impressed by wale's album on first listen.
:dahell:
He just went plat, put the west back on top,had the most creative album in years, great lyrics and beats and you compare him to wale:heh:

i don't care how much he sold.

put the west back on top? nobody is checking for the west coast, and Kendrick isn't even that popular. how the hell can he put a coast on top?

hes a very good lyricist. not great. and the beats are cool. not great.

i don't care about wale, so im not really interested in going back-n-forth about dude. im just saying that Kendrick's album isn't much better, if at all.

Usually I don't bring up sales cause plenty of albums I liked didn't do well and I hated alot of plat albums. But the fact he went plat in this shytty market shows how popular he is. And if the west isn't on top, there definitely back on the map and making serious noise. That's all Kendrick. All the dog's are cosigning him, east, west,Midwest, south. He's clearly the leader of the new school. And lets be honest. Who made a better album than him these last couple of years:manny:

If Hov is sitting front seat at the show they can bypass the award presentation...we already know what time it is

the only album that gives LIG competition is GKMC..so it's 50/50...Nas has more than a chance...

Mchg and born sinner are waaaaaaaaaaaaay more likely to win that award than LIG.

But u're kinda right. The only album that has zero chance is The Gifted.

Most of us think k. Dot will win. And while I voted NaS for most deserving,I have no problem with Kendrick getting shine. He's a great artist and I'm glad he's getting shown a lot of love.

Drake vs Kendrick reminds me of the usual Jay-Z vs Kendrick

the fans of the first camp will talk about hit singles and sales while the fans of the other camp will talk about the quality of the albums :wow:

I'm a fan of LIG but you're deluded if you think it'll over win over GKMC :ld: Let's be reality here, GKMC made a bigger dent in sales and impact than Life Is Good did (these award shows are all popularity contests) and it's arguably the better album.
