GKMC was more cohesive than LIG up until all those bonus tracks...like that weird strained Mary joint. 
LIG was soooooo solid but if it's AoTY we're talking about, doesn't impact have to be part of the criteria? GKMC had a narrative, not just a memoir of one person's growth (which it did too, like LIG) but K. Dot defined this year with a story about gang-banging, becoming an artist, re-telling the stories of the dead.
Nas, for all the musical peaks he had on LIG, wasn't quite as together as GKMC. Just another flip through a mastermind's rhymebook, which is great and all, but you could get that any year from Nas. Won't make this album stand out against a new voice.
