But most of the battles started like that. Rap has always been open season for whoever you feel like.

These kids have b*stardized the world "clout". Mc battles have always been about clout.

That guy getting the attention on stage right now... he's not all that, I can do that. Someone has to be challenged and the challenge is never issued in a civil fashion.

If that's how it was in the beginning, how can it be wrong now?

If the song doesn't stick then it doesn't stick. Nothing wrong with rappers challenging each other as long as the tough talk doesn't get crazy.

Ransom was just flexing with bars and rappity rapping

Reminds me of how Royce tried to handle Lupe and Lupe actually dissed him for real for real

Nahhhh Royce EARNED that lyrical ass kicking saying all types of shyt about Lupe and throwing shots at his dead father when they had the podcast. Royce wasn’t just flexing he damn near DEMANDED that battle

Anybody can be a gatekeeper of keeping it real bruh :dahell:

I swear young nggas play the game of telephone and don’t knoq what phrases mean :snoop:

No, ‘anyone’ can not be a gatekeeper. Think about the actual word and why it’s used. It means the person is behind the gate, which denotes status, clout, being above or ahead of the person you’re ‘keeping’

Ransom is no fukking gatekeeper

I'm of the opinion anybody can diss anybody for whatever reason. You can argue it's for clout, attention, etc. but quite a few rap battles (TI vs Flip, Quik vs Eiht, LL vs Canibus) were started for objectively stupid reasons.

Having said all that, this was a better song than the Jim shyt, but he had the better diss. "You're a fake drug dealer" didn't land when Drake tried it....and Drake is about 1,000 x more popular than Ran.

And the money talk is....I dunno where he was going with that. Ran saying Push is broke would be like Push saying Drake is broke. He didn't even attempt that angle, because it's silly.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I’d be surprised if Push acknowledged him.
This. Reminds me of the control verse when a bunch of nobodies came dissing but nobody was talking to them in the first place

And to be honest, we sure this about Push? No direct references or names. This could be like 100 other random songs

Huh? They don't even talk any more.

Push got like $2 mill from Adidas, the Arby's song, did an official remix for HBO's "Secession"....like I said, I dunno what Ran was thinking with the money angle.
