The sports game argument is funny to me. A lot of sport game players feel they aren't "hardcore" gamers, but I agree with someone who posted something a bit ago

To let these dudes tell it you have to fit into whatever box someone else wants to put you in because they arent good at the games you play.

If you run through a full 82 game season on 2k, multiple season of franchise on Madden or you averaging a 15:1 kdr then your just as hardcore a gamer as all these other cats

Only thing different is the preference

Shoutout to my #TBM breh @Arcavian

Time invested and attention to stats/detail separates the "hardcore" from the casuals, imo.

nikkas talkin bout "you gotta play x amount of different games" are just trynna justify their wack gaming choices :pachaha:

Playstation has actually always veered more to the casual gamer, with Xbox being focused way more on the (online) competitive element and therefore more attractive for gamers who are on that hardcore shyt.

There's a reason Sony's all on that social media/share your kills/let me post the stats on Twitter of how bad I humiliated you in this match while your girl was on my dikk stuff because the limitations of PSN competitive gaming always put it below Xbox Live.

That to be determined if there is a big difference in graphics. Cost is not really a reason for a hardcore gamer. And according to some hardcore gamers its all about gameplay not graphics. Only casuals like graphics they say.

But its nothing wrong with appealing to the masses. I think some hardcore gamers have to understand they are the minority. You cant have a successful system without appealing to a wide range of people including the so called hardcore gamer to be successful in the market.

Thanks once again very insightful.

Hardcore gamers have always been the majority, just not with consoles. The PC crowd can never be discounted because these are the guys who make most of our games these days. Many of your favorite developers are/were pc gamers and they had to play and test almost every genre of video games.

The whole idea of a console in the first place was to bring video games to the casual crowd. This predates nintendo, not everyone could afford those pcs that played those atari type games and not everyone had an arcade in their town either. So I'm definitely not arguing the Hardcore is the minority assessment.

You're referring to hardcore consumers, not hardcore gamers:pachaha:

But on the real, not everyone is gonna like the same games.

PS4 is said to be "catered" to the gamer because its more powerful, its that simple. Also, PS3's strong outing of exclusives with PS3, gives them an in-house development edge in my opinion.

A nikka that indulges in multiple games for a great amount of time a week with intent to 100% complete it is a hardcore gamer to me.

I'd say it's just all about the amount of time one dedicates to playing games and how serious/passionate it is to them and have a great interest and knowledge of the games that you play or gaming in general. I don't believe you have to necessarily be a completionist or the very best at whatever game/s you play, just that you have that mindset that gaming isn't just some you do to pass time or whatever.

Also, why is this thread just a ruse for more console bashing?!

In the end, doesn't matter what console you play on or which genre you play really, just that what I stated above applies for you for whatever you play. Having said that, most folks that only play 1 or 2 select mainstream games aren't usually hardcore gamers. That's not to say that they can't be, just that they usually aren't.

Japan, but from the 989
A hardcore gamer is about the games. He cares about the quality of the games and appreciates the work put into it. Now if you try to bullshyt a hardcore gamer, like Xbox tried with the DRM issues, 100 dollars more expensive, and mandatory kintec...well you get embarrassed for the world to see. Hardcore games don't give a fukk about watching NFL on the Xbox or Halo TV. They want to know if it is worth putting in an extra 100 dollars for your system for GAMES. I understand that people want choice today but don't try to turn your video game console solely into a cable box that can play games. I still play games but I'm no longer a hard core gamer. Meaning I would put hours upon hours in on a RPG. Today, I play whatever can fill about two hours of time and keep it moving. (Job and a kid take up the rest of the time)
