I think he was trying to say that people nowadays are more lazy in respect to making songs. It doesn't matter as much of how violent or immoral the content is. It is more of people are getting lazy with the music in respect to rapping and also people are not paying attention to reaching a universally likable sound. It is more of "Well I think it is good and I think everyone should like it." type mentality.
I don't necessarily agree with that tho.. I think people are just as creative as ever... really it's just that retards get pushed to the front by these record companies.

It's not hip hop's fault. Hip hop had to dumb down to become popular. Most people didn't get it. Rap is just adapting to society's demands as opposed to standing out from society like it did in the past.

When I got into rap in the 90s, I got into it because it was the smartest and coolest genre out. Period. It was like dancing to funky MJ shyt while getting way more info, personalities and observations thrown at you. There's a whole generation of people that were saved through hip hop.
