90s hip hop was essentially talkin bout the same shyt.. but they at least made it interesting

for example, AZ - Uncut raw (talkin about sellin drugs) or Biggie - nikkas Bleed they was talkin bout the same shyt a lot of rappers still rap about..sellin drugs, makin money, doin "thug" shyt but they came wit witty rhymes and shyt..

rap now a days lack that.. its a bunch of rappers who can't rap.

:ehh: That is what I am saying. It sounded like they had an actual craft. There has always been some ignorance in rap but there was more balance to it and it wasn't just what was underground. I also feel like it was more "this is life, this my daily life" than "I'ma ignant nicca in the hood and i'ma die here."

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
It's interesting how we all say hip-hop is missing x,y,z.. or sucks compared to the way it was... but the shyt still sells. I guess corporate America successfully bought itself an art form, watered it down to remove true artistry and awareness from it and is selling that shyt to the masses (sheep). Same thing happened to mainstream jazz.

I named one of the best of this modern era (which is what I'm discussing) with one of the best from the 90s
Which album from 2008-Present is as good as the 90s.... I'll wait :lolbron:

I haven't bought a hip hop album in like 5 years.

I can't think of 5 tracks hotter than this, and it was made in '89.

Tracks that are way better than that...

By Lil Reese 1) Traffic 2) Savage 3) Beef 4) Rap Sh+t 5) Bad 6) Us

By Chief Keef 1) 3Hunna 2) Aimed At You 3) John Madden 4) It's Cracking 5) Smash...

Every song on "Marcberg" by Roc Marciano is better than that...

I listen to Kendrick, Drake, Ye, and all those rap artists that bring something to the table and I can't agree that we can go back to the 90's fully. Yet, I see it as a cycle when that era can come back around with new and upcoming artists. Joey Badass, Slaughterhouse, etc have shown glimpses.

Enjoy that Piff
