If you are a fan of Hip Hop to it's core then you will eventually understand it's language without the use of a wikipedia style lyrics site. I know Hip Hop/Black/Hood Slang isn't for everyone but the lingo is apart of the culture. This is why I've never been a fan of the site. Of course they are expanding. You dudes thought they were in it for the love of Hip Hop? Ha.

The fact that people check the site to get the meaning of the lyrics is taking action. Action to find out what that term means....that's not a casual listener that's a high level of interest breh

Their goal is more to do with annotating/interpreting law...I guess Hiphop was the proof of concept.

They also got hit by google penalities before with rapgenius.com, so thus, a name change was needed to get their rankings back. If they follow all the rules and do good link building, then the new domain should rank well in due time.

The ban affected them for a week tops. They cleaned up all their fugazi links. Search for a rap song (not just lyrics) and they'll be top 5 in the searches
