I have the old Purple City dvd. And even then when they were poppin, Agallah came off pretty bummy. I remember they were filming in his beat making lab and it was just a cramped basement with an MPC3000 and some records.

So if that's how he was living at the time his music was actually selling I hate to think of how he's doing now. Shame. Dude really is talented
dude always came off as a grimey coke sniffing type...i know so many people like him...they are cool as fukk and obviously talented, but they are such a drug addict that emotionally they are off the rails and kind of fukk everything up around them.

Ag is good people the problem is he should've broke an upcoming artist a long time ago with the heat he makes but he wants to be in the forefront. One thing I will say about him is he LIVES & BREATHES this Hip Hop shyt. That's all he wants to do and all he ever talks about. If he's not making beats he listening to em' or spitting to em'. It literally is this man's life.

Peace to agallah one of my fav unsung hip hop heros. Dude a legend off rising to the top along. Never mind he ghost produced/wrote for onyx

Sounds like onyx circa 9495 when he wrote for them.

Ag needs to get off the street beat route and work the labe madlib n dilla laid for him. Make those movie like beat cds. His sound is lush no homo and woukd need rappers to carry jt. A agallah album in the vein of donuts would rock

Didnt he ghost produce Onyx's second album? Majority of the the credit went to Fredro Starr, but he never produced anything before or after that one album :patrice:

:wtf::mindblown::mindblown:

never knew that, DLd AGs first album a few years back and thought it sounded very onyx'ish. Guess that would be why.

If he were gifted in any other art he would be a lot more comfortable now, or at least better appreciated.

Not really, the history of art is full of unrecognized geniuses who lived in poverty, only to be recognized as classic decades after their death.

Being good at something and being a good businessman and protecting your talent is two different jobs, the latter being too often ignored.

Even in fields of science and invention, many people that shaped the world we live in today got snaked and died poor.

A guy with a guitar or a graphic artist can go play/draw on the street and not get hated on & clowned. There is a genuine respect for those talents. It's just not like that for rap, if you aren't popular with the youngest demographic of fans, you are "played out". You see people in this very post scoffing at people trying to push their CDs on the street. So like I said he would be more comfortable, or at least better appreciated if he gained notoriety with a different talent. A lot of you guys are glossing over the fact that he isn't "unrecognized". He had a major deal with Elektra. He had some popular independent records with Sean Price, among others. He had somewhat of a resurgence on the commercial level through his work with Purple City. The only work that he has done that is largely uncredited is his work on Onyx's "Last Days" album. So the unrecognized tag doesn't fit him, and I'm not even trying to call him a musical genius either. I just think he would be able to get a steadier stream of work if he had a different talent, because the rap game is so acidic in nature.

dude couldnt make a name for himself as 8 off in the 90's

anything after that era if you didnt have a club/radio single

you wasnt gunna blow up

its just how it is

and even if u have that hit your career could just be a flash in the pan

most of these dudes at the clubs hosting doing shows or appearences are honestly just barely getting by

shyt before chinx died he looked like a million bucks

dude died and they had to do a go fund me to pay for a funeral

these dudes are basically just promoting an image

8 off or agallah as he has called himself in recent years just simply isnt on peoples radars

because really why should he be?

internet rap nerds such as myself and others know him

but that doesnt mean shyt in the real world
