I’m pretty sure that’s not how it happened. Lupe didn’t want to do those records and turned them down.
Lupe's interviews are still up and available to read. He and Bob recorded the records together. They were Lupe's songs but Bob recorded the second verses. The label loved Bob's verses and wanted Lupe to change his verses to sound like Bob. He wouldn't do it and suggested that if they want to make him sound more like Bob then they should only let Bob do the songs because he isn't going to change his sound. So they recorded the songs without Lupe and they became mainstream. Lupe said it was the final straw and what made him have a breakdown. He said he did not like the way it was done.

“That was the tipping point,” says Lupe, who also recorded a version of the song that was rejected by his record label. “It was less about the bruised ego but more the audacity of it. It was mentally destructive. I say it with a certain laissez-faire now because I’m past it, but back then, hearin’ that s**t, it f**ked me up.”

These are facts. Atlantic said if you don’t want to switch it up then we’ll get BOB to pop it up.

“Nothin on You” was Lupe’s song. I think that’s still BOB’s vocals in the chorus too.

That nikka was never at any time "like the biggest star out" breh.

He had a pop hit with Bruno, but the dude was never major like that.
Had his fans, but that's about it breh
He had back to back platinum hits :unimpressed:
Nothin On You, Airplanes, and Magic were all the same album, plus two other Gold singles from that album
He had three more platinum singles his next album, a gold, and then two more after that + another platinum album and a gold album :unimpressed:
Constant features for a few years too :hubie:

Lupe is also a lying fakkit, so I don't believe the story went down like that.
