I'm familiar with Dee-1, he's from my city, I've followed him over the years and I have to agree with your analysis unfortunately. I won't focus too much more of my attention on Dee-1's intentions for saying what he said but I think there's a value in it being said.

So it's fine to rap about violence and killing unless someone you know (who also raps about violence and killing) loses a family member to said violence and killing?

:jbhmm:

Nikkas always turn righteous and anti violence after they lose someone, for a week or two.
Watch Gillie return to violence rap and threatening people soon.

Some of the posters in here who say "all rap is the same" these days won't listen to this song without picking it apart

This song is realer than everything on the radio nowadays. Music you can feel is rare in the mainstream

Bizzle and KRIT are on that same wave. Real music is still being made. Look for it

I understand Gillie has a successful platform, but I truly wish he wouldn't interview rappers that rap about that bullshyt. Those are probably the same type of dudes that killed his son.

And also, it never sat right with me that Gillie, being an old head, would constantly say "old heads need to stop hating on the young dudes"
