RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – An 18-year-old woman was killed and her 18-year-old boyfriend was injured in a shooting in Raleigh Wednesday night, according to sources.

Raleigh Police officers were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Filbert Street.
On Thursday afternoon, police announced they had arrested a 21-year-old suspect in the shooting death of Kari Onyea Watson, age 18, who died at the shooting scene.
A second victim, Dre’kwon Bagley, 18, who friends say was Watson’s boyfriend, was taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.
Xavier JaQuan Sanders, age 21, was charged with murder in Watson’s death, police said Thursday.
Family members of Watson said she was a recent graduate of Southeast Raleigh High School and had earned a Future Teachers of Wake County Scholarship. Watson’s aunt said her niece was attending Winston-Salem State University in hopes of becoming a history teacher. Watson had just recently earned Dean’s List Honors after her first semester in college.
Watson’s aunt described her niece as “an angel that will be missed by us all.”
Family members say they believed Watson was giving a friend a ride home Wednesday night when she got caught in the middle of a shootout. Neighbors said they heard at least 10 shots.
Police said Thursday that the shooting “was not a random act.” Sanders was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, according to the Raleigh Police booking website.
The accused shooter has a past criminal record which includes convictions for larceny and felony breaking and entering back in 2010. Sanders was arrested in Sept of 2010 and was given a suspended sentence along with community service and probation for those 2010 crimes.
Sanders is being held without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday Dec 28 at 9 a.m.
The shooting remains under investigation.

There's a distinct difference IMO. 50 Cent is Curtis Jackson at the end of the day. They are real people regardless of what they rap about.
