I tell folk if your mind isn’t there don’t bother.
If you are thinking about random BS and social media then this ain’t for you. You will literally die out there. Brain has to be locked in so your legs are on autopilot. I’ve had hard days thinking about frivolous life bullshyt and bytches and not even be able to complete a 5K. Mind matters
I've converted a few of my co-workers to running. One is 55, one is 43, 2 are in their 30's and one is in their 20's. 3 are women and 2 are men. Only 2 of them were interested in getting fit, the rest wanted to take up a challenge. All of them do the mindless scrolling Twitter, Facebook, tiktok. All of them significantly stopped because after a run they were too focused, and exhausted to do anything but shower, refuel and chill/sleep.
These mindless drones out there....what's funny to me is one of the women I got into running was easily 275...never ever played sports. I wrote her a modified couch to 5k program. She was like 5'5 275. She ran it in 40 minutes. She's continuing to run, she's never "race" but she'll go at her own pace, she doesn't stop to walk, she runs the entire thing though. She doesn't think she's ever do a 10k but what's funny is the 55 year old woman, she's a fighter (metaphorically) she got up to 5k and since shed run with me, she got up to 10k. She's never ran a 10k race but weve ran outside and she's made it in 1hr. Which is cool because she's 55, hadnt really been active since her 20's. But she's small. 5'3, 115lbs.....
I tell people all the time, your mental glass ceiling is higher than your physical. A lot of people have the physical capacity to do things but they mentally tell themselves or convince themselves "I can't do that" .
