And all DMX had to do was rap Get At Me Dog with his jaw wired.... lyor Cohen also came to the ruff ryders studio instead of it being in a room full of executives.

Its crazy because he had recently been jumped and had his jaw wired and the opportunity came up and he took it. I know kanye did through the wire with his jaw wired but its two different styles of rapping... knowing the way X raps... when he finished his mouth was bloody and he had a record deal lol. He said he could feel the wires stretching and popping as he rapped every word but didn't give a shyt... it was his time :wow:

Except, for hip-hop those suits don't get moved by that ish to that extent. They'd be better seeing you on any stage.

I really do think that now it's moreso of a show of positioning. They can get a better view by watching footage of you performing in front of a crowd.
the problem is there is no real skill in performing rap live vs someone singing or playing an instrument.

this type of scenario probably shows more for artists in other genres...but falls flat for rap

That's why I say they can get a better feel just from seeing how a live crowd reacts to you. You performing for the suits does absolutely nothing. :yeshrug:

That ish would be like a rapper auditioning for American Idol

What's the point tho? How does this help their decision to sign an artist?

Or is it just a "test" to see what they're willing to do for fame :mjpls: :dame:

Yall must have never watched old tapes of Michael Jackson or old Motown performers, they've been making artists audition like this forever.

I swear , nikkas on here always trying to make some bull shyt exclusive to hip hop , Justin Bieber hit the executive’s with the damn worm when he was trying to get that deal :mjlol:

Yeah but he was like 10-15 years old when he got on. Some of these guys like 20-30, plus you add in the history of minstrelsy with the racial dynamic shyt gets dicey

It's a bit weird bc here we go criticizing them for doing whatever it takes to change their life but at the same time a lot of rappers live the same life they lived before they get deals. Same people hanging around same situations. You start to wonder was it worth them doing all that?

The spin is that he's a George Michael lookin cac

That's Gashi, he's an Albanian artist from Brooklyn. He was signed to Roc Nation but i'm not sure if he still is.

Call me weird, but i ain't rapping in a room full of NOBODY. Catch my raps after they recorded.

Ill let my artists spit for you.

:unimpressed:

wouldn’t even let my artists spit in a room like that. we’ve recorded records, listen to the records and let us know. Until then we’ll be moving em out the trunk ourselves, and may just stay doing it like that.

I just don’t understand how ppl are using the same style and sound

jews got a hold of rap. did the same thing they did to urban radio and fashion. once they get involved in something it becomes as cookie cutter as possible in order to maximize profit. Efficiency. And everyone looking and sounding the same is as efficient as it gets to them. The trade off is that you lose the originality, which is key in music and fashion.

read ford’s ‘the international jew.’ he explains it because they follow the same pattern in everything they involve themselves in.
