I’m a fan now but it took me a VERY long time to understand what the big deal was about Mobb Deep.

Thinking back to when I first started to explore the classics as a a young teen..whereas I INSTANTLY understood the appeal when I heard Illmatic, 36 Chambers, etc…first time I heard the Infamous like “WTF is this dark, sleepy shyt?”

But run dmc music has no appeal to me. Some beats were okay but without them on it.

In general, pro-black rappers do nothing for me because it's essentially like rapping to the wall. Their words aren't changing anything.

What makes Kendrick a “pro black” rapper? I wouldn’t even say he’s a conscious rapper. I wouldn’t consider TPAB a “pro black” album either, despite being placed in that box.
