If you really think about it... the only two anybody really gives a fukk about are Nas & Hov ..maybe Scarface...Andre or OUtkast if Andre and Big Boi were together because no one gives a fukk about him solo....right?... i mean I would love to hear some new Cormega.. or CNN ... or WU or Bootcamp Mobb Deep....Dogg Pound... Ras Kass..3 6....8ball and MJG. but the majority of people can give a shyt less.. and none of them will realistically sell more than 100000 albums...if lucky even that... my point is.. people keep talking shyt about the "Old Heads" but if your an OG and you dont listen to any of these new rappers.. i feel sorry for you.. because the artist you like are garbage now.. look at 50.. Cam... Snoop...i mean i might like 1 song out of every 10 they drop.. but do you really give a fukk if they ever drop an album again..? Redman? not really.. i mean i was a fan of his but i have a feeling if he dropped some shyt right now it would be garbage... and do you know why... because these old rappers have identity crisis.. and instead of sticking to what they are good at they try new shyt... and it fails.. look at Raekwon.. he stuck to the script and dropped 2 good albums ...and he ended up having more buzz than he did in years...now look at Santana's latest mixtape.. does anyone even remember anything off of it..i doubt it because he thought he was chief keef..

art has never been about sales
i dont even mean sales either breh.. im talking over all people who actually give a shyt... every year that goes by that these old heads dont drop an album or drop garbage albums is more time that goes by that they dont grab our attention..and eventually we dont give a fukk at all

Some of these groups like mobb and wu have lost the cohesion and energy that made them great..

Camron dosent even care about rap..

50 is blackballed

8ball and MJG along with 3 6 mafia would do respectable numbers if they were on a major who promoted them right...

look at what puff did for ball and g on their 1st effort.

Snoop and the dogg pound....see what i stated first..the cohesion and energy is gone

i dont think 8 ball and MJG would sell if they were promoted.. 3-6 would do ok just off of juicy's buzz.. but i still dont think Juicy is gonna push over 200K with this album...

i swear to you after i wrote it i was gonna write a lil sumthn about juicy.. just because he is the only old head i can think of who basically can hang with the times.. he is like a chameleon..

juicy will NEVER fall off.. its weird, he been around for ever.. but it seems his career is just getting started.

word.. i agree.. not with hav or nore cause those albums i disliked.. but i agree with the others.. ...it was just a thought i had... its just if LL dropped an album right now i know i would hate it.. and it would most likely be wack..but there are older heads that grew up on him that would swear it was dope.. and i dont even want to turn into one of them dudes

Both would need a knockout single and both would need to get on their tour grind initially.....

Juicy wont do crazy numbers because he is a shallow artist{club records}..

What puff did with ball and g on their first album on bad boy was good....He had them set up well

It's been like that for about the last 5-6 years though..

Nas & Jay are only two still at the forefront of the mainstream..

However you still have artists such as Common, The Roots, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, and Scarface can all drop albums, tour, and make a respectable living off being an artist.

Outkast would do numbers if they were to reunite, believe that...

word but reality is its time for all of us to put alot of these rappers into a retirement home of some sorts.. Rakim.. Kool G.. Slick Rick.. well Kool G still thinks he could rap sometimes..but the rest of them knew when to call it quits.. and some of these rappers need to

That's because the 90's rappers dropped the ball, and the world kept moving. In music you have a million people wanting to take your spot, so you have to keep working on your craft, and finding ways to stay in the spotlight. If not they will forget about you. 50 cent is good at being in the spotlight but, he is scared to go a new way with his music because he wants to be a winner every time he releases a record. I understand where he's coming from but, I guess that is what he created for himself. The best artist who stay around are the ones who aren't afraid to fail or be hated on, so they try new ways of doing music. Look at all the rappers who lasted over 5 years, and you will see this is what kept them in the game. Along with having a good team behind the scenes.

I do say the 90's rapper stayed around much longer then the 80's rappers. Those guys didn't advance at all. They would make music like it was the 80's when they rapped. the beat was the only different thing.
