On the opposite end of the spectrum I always kind of wondered how Nas didn’t end up blackballed for dissing Hot 97 the way he did in 02. Dude said that Angie was TERRIBLE as a rapper, that Flex was a homo, and that Roc-A-Fella scattered like ROACHES when Ether dropped. He straight up said that Wendy Williams was slaughtering Angie in the ratings and she was gonna get fired.

I mean all Ghostface did was yell “fukk Hot 97!” At Summerjam and they got banned from the airwaves but Nas was RIGHT back on Hot 97’s rotation as soon as Made You Look dropped.

Thats a good observation and discussion.

If Ether hadn't had the success that it did, it may well have been.

But from what i recall, Nas was the talk of the town those two years, he came and got his crown back, went platinum, merked Jay etc. Things were looking good. When you have the clout, the momentum, runs on the board, status etc so on and so forth, you can manoeuvre a little different sometimes without as much retribution. At least you could back then, probably not so much now (cancel culture etc.)

Steve Stoute was still managing during this time?

Freddie Foxx gassed Nas up to go at Hot 97 fwiw. Imagine if Nas had used Jigga dummy.

This is what it looks like when a rapper is getting blackballed. In most cases this type of shyt gets handled behind closed doors, but because of the popularity of the rappers involved here alot of this has been made public and the public is falling for it.







This is a textbook case. Theyve made the call and are working over time to influence the narrative.

but it seems like he was buzzing than he caught that murder rap for the dude from Trill ENT son and that was about it....He was either working on a deal or close to one with Yo Gotti he should be buzzing just as much as Black Youngsta or even Money Bag Yo...He legit has had songs with a lot of hot rappers from the south and even some up north and on the west coast...

Or maybe industry politics don't want that type of element around anymore.
