What did that dude do to get blackballed? If anything he figured out there was more money in movies and TV, but he's on Wildin out and they still pull solid musical talent on the reg. If you're blackballed people don't fukk with you. Whichever of the Corey's from the 80s who isn't still alive, that dude got blackballed. He burned too many Bridges and couldn't get any real acting work again once he grew up.

Oj da juiceman wasn't blackballed, nor was chamillionaire, bow wow or the Wu, alot of these people simply switched lanes or weren't able to continue moving the units they had Initially, maybe they got dropped from their labels, but again, that's not being blackballed.

There's been some legit answers in here for sure, but most have been misindentifications

That doesn't mean he's blackballed, he's just not that type of artist. Mood Muzik etc was popular just not mainstream, not everything is mainstream and not everything needs to be.

Mood muzik 2 had a lot of material that was supposed to be on his second album. Def Jam shelved the album for questionable reasons.

It's possible that he was blackballed.

Def Jam put a TON of promo into him. Even STOKED the flames for him to go at Jay-z. The guy was getting big videos shot, payola like a muhfukka for Pump It Up, he was in a fukking video game, they put him all over the place. An unknown guy, from JERSEY, getting a push like that organically? G T F O.

They wasted a ton of money on him, never got what they put in, so he got released.

Artists who really got blackballed, and thus know what that means, would see this thread and laugh at any idea that a fukkin' Eazy-E got blackballed in 1993. With an album that went platinum and a whole label full of artists.

On the last episode of Making The Band, dude from Bad Boy is essentially telling the members of Da Band they will be black balled once they leave Bad Boy.

He specifically told Fred "You think you are going to go sign with a label in Miami? No one in this industry is going to go against Puff's decision"

15+ years Fred has yet to return to a major record label.

If you remember being around when this was all going down, Joe budden's claim was that Def Jam refused to release any music he made after Jay took over. Took tracks from his second album and released them unfinished as mood muzik 2. He then stop making music for years till Jay stepped down. Some time after that he was dropped for being inactive. Budden claims that this move was on purpose to get him released from his contract.

During all this Joe budden was building his brand on the Internet where he couldn't be silenced. He's managed to keep himself relevant enough on the Internet so they can't just ignore him.

I also remember them fukking up the release of his first album by not releasing focus as a single even tho it was already hot on the streets. They released trash as fire. He coulda sold more but his sales were good enough to warrant a second album, which created the notion that Jay z had him blackballed.
