Artists don’t like to be pigeonholed, sticking with ONE sound or group of producers can become boring, repetitive, and unchallenging.

Imagine going to a Nas concert and ALL the songs were only produced by Premo and Large Professor.

Going to a Jay-Z concert and ALL the songs are by Ski and Clark Kent?

Imagine if Common stuck with NO ID and NEVER worked with Kanye?

Matter of fact the suggestion that artists should “stick” with their initial producers is a TERRIBLE idea!
In the music game it’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. If you stick with one producer then fans are like “you should switch it up” if you switch it up then fans are like “why did you switch up?”

To this day I just don’t understand it.

It just doesn’t make sense.

Was the dust really responsible for all that early wu-tang heat? :mjcry:

They all do it.

Rappers are idiots and most of them don’t know shyt about real music.

The ones that hurt are Jay stepping away from the Ski - Preemo - Clark Kent team and BCC stepping away from Beatminerz.

Mac Mall/Mac Dre and Khayree -- what could have been. :mjcry:

I know Mall eventually went back to Khayree twice for Illegall Business 2000 and that Revolution album but the magic was gone at that point.

2pac and all those wack ass producers he had on the first two albums.... that was for the better though

He was feeling himself. He started buying all of these keyboards and thinking he was Chopin and got away from the simple shyt that made him great like digging in the crates. Plus he didn't want to to keep paying sample clearances. Greed!!!

DMX and Dame Grease

Swizz was his #1 homeboy in the streets and whatever I won't knock that but that nikka production was trash :yeshrug: Grease had that real grimy shyt that made X sound that much better
That was a label move. Swizz' uncles and aunt owned the label. If you listen to DMX first album, Dame and PK carried and did the best songs, but they wanted their newphew to get the shine. So they rushed a 2nd album of bullshyt and PK on only 2 tracks still outshined Swizz. And it continued with the 3rd album. This was a move by the label.

I agree with this, but leaving a great producer and getting inferior producers is borderline stupidity. Jeru leaving Primo to produce for himself basically killed his own career. Common leaving No Id to go to Dilla and Kanye wasn't a bad move. Slick rick going from Bomb Squad to Vance Wright ( due to awaiting prison sentence) was a HORRIBLE MOVE!!!

Stricly 4 my nikkaz production was SOLID. I don't understand what you're talking about haha. Live squad always laced Pac with heat. And Bobcat is one of the greatest producers that most of you have never heard of. He's been behind some of the biggest songs and albums in hip hop history and never became a household name.
