You're right, P doubles background regarding his parents music careers and his grandparents etc, it sets the first act of a film up nicely. When you throw in QB, Havoc's brother (literally a homicidal maniac in every sense of the word), Tragedy, Nas, Ron Artest, etc there's the nuts and bolts of a strong cast and visual backdrop, production design etc.
