...than their counterparts with a stage name in the mainstream. By authentic I mean they tend to speak more about themselves, real life situations and social issues as far as subject matter.
Now of course there are exceptions, this is not a hard and fast rule, but on the whole I think this is true.
Think of Tupac v Biggie. They both spit about materialistic, shallow, violent stuff at times...but who does it more consistently?...who made Keep ya head up, Changes, Dear Mama (NB: LAD is my fav album of all time)

Psychologically, I think it's easier to just jump into character as ''2 Chainz'' or ''Rick Ross'' rather than spitting fictional coke tales as William Roberts II.
So when you use your real name, you're representing yourself. Telling YOUR story.
