My Pops Forever RIP
This was pretty egregious though.
So was Practice.

Put it this way. It woulda been interesting to see the reaction had Rappin' 4-Tay said he loved it or thought it was cool Drake remembered the song (he may still do that anyway ). Either there would be no thread at all, or the same people posting Rappin 4-Tay videos woulda been dissing him, sayin his ribs was touchin and he :flabbynsick:

Dog, Mase wasn't angry probably because it didn't matter to him. But if he was angry, he'd have that right too. Also, Ma$e was one of hte biggest rappers in hiphop in his era with the biggest mainstream hits. You use a Mase line, most people pretty much know it. Rappin 4tay, not so much. 90% of drakes' audience has no clue about rappin 4tay to readily identify those lyrics off first listen and they think these are all Drake.

I get that most of you guys are young. But listen, pre Jay-z there was a time in hiphop when using lyrics smoebody else said without giving them credit was NEVER cool. Its why GZA wasn't feeling Drake just using the Wu Tang brand for a song that had nothing to do with Wu Tang. I realize we're in a different era when lyrics, flows, legacies are pretty much a communal property but here's the thing...4Tay isn't wrong to not like it. It's his song, his lyrics, and if a random nikka feels like using them how he sees fit, 4tay has a RIGHT to feel however he wants about it, even if he doesn't fukk with it. Do you understand?

Thats no different than saying "bay area n*ggas should be happy people steal their slang."
"producers that get their beats jacked should be thankful somebody likes their sh*t enough to steal/recreate their sound"
I agree he has the right to react how we wants. That's as far as my agreement goes.

But the fact is, 4tay is fundamentally incorrect about the situation. It seems likely that when (not if) Drake is asked about the lines in the song, he's gonna say he did it to pay homage to 4tay, hence making 4tays reason for being angry ('taking the line without paying homage) objectively false.

Fucc that chit, though.

It's not like Drake needs to hold a press conference, or something like that...and like some of you have said, rappers used to say others rappers' lines (yeah, a "line" - not say damn near half their verse) all the time, but the difference is that it takes 2 seconds for them to say "like _____", which is what they used to do. That's paying real homage. When you aren't citing your sources, you're passing it off like it's your chit.

I disagree again. Even if Drake wanted to pay homage, it still doesn't invalidate 4tay not feeling it. If you make a song and years later I remake it, use your lyrics, sell it, perform it at shows, and NEVER ask you permission, all because I really like you and the song, are you wrong to think I should've asked first? You may not even like me lol!

That's wack, he should have at least shouted him out or gave him a writing credit....shyt Slick Rick and Doug E fresh got writing credits just from em saying "6 minutes" on a track, this nikka is jacking whole verses of people who are sort of obscure even when in their own era, that's weak.

:whoa: :whoa: :whoa: that shyt was wack, but everyone was going hyphy

at least the chicken noodle soup garbage. The harlem shake was a movement, I guess, but I was way too young when that came out...
:childplease: nobody outside of the bay cared about hyphy, even mtv tried to force that failed attempt of a movement because the snap dancing crunk era was on the decline.
