And how many rappers do this? :upsetfavre:

Did Mase shoutout LL when he used the "Can't a young nikka get money anymore" I didnt even know that was an LL line until years later b/c it was before my time.

Did Wayne shout out Rakim when he bit the "Thinkin of a Master Plan" verse.

The list could go on, but y'all like to single out Drake. :yeshrug:

And Is this a real single, or just some mixtape stuff? If it's a real single then 4-Tay should get a check, but for some mixtape stuff he needs to just fall back.

It's one thing to take a line and another to take 5.

rakim is rakim. and thats a well-known line/sample.
LL cool j is one of the biggest household names to come out of hip-hop.

they dont need to be shouted out. its a huge HUGE difference between those dudes and somebody like rappin 4-tay. thats the point. @Taadow.

plus, drake took more than just a line. he took like half the joint. lol.

as other have stated before, but the question has gone unanswered and simply ignored. If "playaz club" was so "regional" and had no "impact" or "influence" how did a half jewish kid from Canada name Drake know about the song? :lupe:

nah. this question was answered multiple times. @Taadow

i dont know about a regional hit but it dam sure wasnt an across the board hit. and he certainly was a regional artist.

how does somebody from canada know this song? well it made it to rap city didnt it? but thats only half the battle.

the same way i liked rappin 4-tay personally but he could walk thru the most crowded of places up here and no one would know who he is. not just in 2014, but in 1994 as well.

also, i dont know what was going on in canada but i know drake dam sure wasnt listening to this song in real-time, so that kills the argument from the start regardless.

you can tell drake wasnt anywhere near hip-hop in the mid-90s.

yet, he somehow grew up on rappin 4-tay?

***patiently awaits for diggy simmons to do a who-ridas remake.***

I'm simple asking, how and when did Drake hear it? U think he dusted off a 4tay cd out the blue?

obviously.

nothing wrong with that either.

drake been brown-nosing the chit out the bay for a minute now. yall mustve took the bait after "my motto". or it mustve been well-received out there or something.

my gripe with drake is that he didnt salute 4-tay properly.
my gripe with the thread is people acting like 4-tay was a big artist.

Not a big difference. He said he didn't cry when Pac did but he'll cry when Jay dies. Total disrespect and is a sign he wasn't a fan of Pac.
U can be a fan of artist...but theres levels to the sht...

It's not disrespectful...Drake just uses one of the most tragic events in hip hop to greatly portray how he feels about Hov and his influence on him

Its a technique poets and writers use very often simpleton
