Yeah when he lost a lung or whatever that was it for him. He just don't sound right. I think he's using AI to try and restore his sound.
It was over before that tbh. Him getting locked up before his third album killed all his momentum and that was his best album. I know the Roc was basically done by then but he had enough resources gifted to him that he coulda carried on with State Property

Not a "failure" in the strict sense cuz it wasn't his fault, but D.O.C falling asleep and crashing his car destroyed what could have been a legendary career.

Failures in the strict sense:

Lauryn: 1 classic and need I say more?
Mos Def: Blackballed by Lyor after The Rape Over (some tall Israeli is running this rap shyt) + sub-par music afterwards.
Ill & Al Skratch: 2 back to back hits for the fellas and the ladies and then poof
CNN: Yes I know mad drama behind the scenes: Trag beef, Capone locked up right as they started blowing up, Nore has charisma and Capone doesn't. Self-sabotage in its purest form.

B.o.B - was bigger than the rapper he signed to

Chamillionaire -hooks and bars for days
Troy Ave -was supposed to be the next 50 cent

OutKast had great career, but it's a shame Big boi doesn't have a better label, he's got potential top 40 hits on all of his solo albums.

Bone thugs n harmony - They're style was perfect for when rap switched to trap from boom bap, they should of been huge in the trap era

Kevin Gates - he's actually a great rapper/song, doesn't give boring interviews and sounds good live ,but he skimps on production , and his best songs are either on mixtapes or YouTube only

Lloyd Banks -horrible beats /mixing since he left 50

Ludacris - definitely not a failure but just left the rap world for a long time for a fast n furious so now he's considered a legacy rapper but Wayne isn't

Denzel Curry -should be the souths kdot

Dababy - The last rapper to actually have real crossover success, bro was number one with dua lipa after just having a rockstar go number one ,then decided to diss the letter people for no reason

Project Pat. Ghetty Green was a great album. Mista Don't Play was a southern classic. But getting locked up for those 4 years stopped his buzz. He easily could have been one of the major players in the 00s.

He had a chance to lean into a manufactured beef with 50 and passed on it. Then he went the no-cussing route and advertised it making him sound all high and mighty. Then getting into the label dispute deaded his major career. He's silicone valley rich though, so it all worked out. Saw him in concert in 2022, still puts on a great show :manny:

DaBaby outshines almost everyone he's featured with lyrically & delivery (most recent victim Blue Devils). My guy just can't capitalize for shiit.

Fif was asked about Cham in an interview and said he should go make gospel records if he wants to be so righteous. Cham ignored it (although he did reference it in "Get Your Burners Out" on one of his mixtapes "I'll look at you like you crazy if you ask about 50 in an interview/cuz I'm bout me and I don't really care about what other rappers do..."

I think 50 later came out and said he actually liked Cham's work and was trying to throw some additional buzz his way, but Cham didn't play along.

Calling OutKast a failure in any sense is insane.
Not that the argument needs to be made but they still outstream almost all their contemporaries, they are always brought up in GOAT lists and Andre sold ridiculous amounts of tickets for people to watch him play the flute almost entirely because that’s how much people revere him.

Agree Outkast because of Andre is like Chapelle before he came back to comedy. GOAT but walked away...

he isn't considered legacy?
A lot of people never even heard Wayne's no autotune albums , plus he's gotta a lot of collabs with all the newer rappers, Wayne ushered in Drake and was still dropping during the streaming era. Luda didn't really collab much with rappers outside of DTF, cuz he was too busy killing pop and rnb features
