The NBA is just silly

The 4th quarter is really ALL that matters. As long as a team is within 25 points by the 4th quarter, they can still easily come back. (and in many cases the refs will help them come back to make the game entertaining)

Unless you a diehard fan, there really isn't any reason to waste your time watching the first half of games
