Not in a world where What’s Going On? And multiple Stevie Wonder albums exist. I love Anita Baker but no

What made you come to that conclusion

Any R&B album with a backdrop of Jazz will always sound so unique and special. Jazz is the greatest genre IMO

When you got a voice like Anita and you can sing that smoothly in the pocket along with Jazz instrumentals, that's basically perfect music :manny:

And on top of all of that, lyrically it is an amazing album as well. Greatest album about Love of all time :mjcry::wow:

Songs In The Key of Life for me personally, but I won’t argue with the OP.

A very underrated album, though not GOAT level, is John Legend’s debut album.

It’s absolutely under consideration. Classic album.

It’s a sad state of affairs for R&B when you can’t think of one album that even comes close. Confessions is probably the only post 2000s R&B album that would even be in the race. Maybe IV by Beyoncé.

R. Kelly has several albums that are up there with some of the best genre has ever seen.

It's a great album but I wouldn't say it's passing Evolution and II by BIIM, 12 Play, or Bobby Brown, DBC. Even Whitney's bodyguard is better.

It's a top 10 album for sure in R&B history.

I'll say Tender Lover, Keith Sweat MILF, Usher Confessions which is the last elite R&B album, and Badus Baduism in the 90s. Mary J had some great albums too but I don't know if she had elite ones.

I still think 12 play is the best R&B album of all time.

Sure, I liked better cuts from the 60s to 80s over 12 play best songs but the overall album was a R&B masterpiece.
