Sorry but that album wasn't all that. Maybe because he wasn't spittin' like the typical west coast head it gets over hyped idk. Not even a five mic album in my opinion.

I don't agree with you on that. Ras has tried to make majority of his tracks with a song, concept in mind. Chino could be more on that lyrical miracle tip, but Ras has relevant subject matter and actually tries to craft songs. So no I think u r wrong.
I agree on this as well now that I think about it. Ionno. His style doesn't really appeal to me to heavy. It's like he has the sound of the lyrical miracle shyt but is actually more layered than that if that makes sense to u. Which makes him better than most of them. Which is why I said he's more relatable. Still not my cup of tea overall. He's dope tho.

Soul on Ice wasn't even a 4 mic album. Trust me, that was my nig, probably the only nig who even knew who he was over here, but nah, them beats was trash and most of the records were blah. "Nature of the Threat" alone is 6 mics tho i guess, ha, 10 mics

Ras biggest weakness is his voice and delivery at times. He tightened it up on blasphemy and sounded dope on Apollos beats. Nas voice can be monotone sometimes but it's more soulful and just better. Ras got lazy on the mic for a good period of time and I noticed tracks from Nas where he's just going through the motions. But Nas is more consistent. Ras on soul on ice however is pinnacle of rhyming at that time. Imo. No rhyme king.

ras is washed up nowadays but its not entirely his fault

he had label problems and got fukked over and just sat most his whole prime years

and not too many years after he made a huge mistake of beefing with the game

this album came out in a sonic landscape change for westcoast music.
this album was made more in vein sonically with works like:

freestyle fellowship to dark madkap like beats

so, the whole gen where this production would have resonated was lost.
same thing happened to big l, on his debut album from delays as well.
as the album was from two past gens sonically.
for its gen when this was made sonically.
the production was next level, it just so happened it came out when that sonic landscape had been phased out.

anyway,...if ras would have worked on his delivery and ability to be onkey bar to bar.
he would have had ultimate convincability and his fanbase would not have ever suffered disconnect.
