Went out on his own terms. Plans to travel the world and write so it sounds like he was smart with his money. Sounds perfect to me

The lifestyle isnt for everyone. People forget there is a lot of training, traveling, team events, the toll on physical and mental health....Hopefully he was smart and held on to his earnings, and/or made sound investments. It seems like he has a plan so god bless him
No one forgets this bruh

i hope he has his paper up

his career went south after those 9/11 comments and the rooneys got in his ass then he went to arizona and that was it

Andre Ellington outshined him last season. Keeping Mendenhall wasn't a priority to the Cardinals.

Good luck to him though. He saved his money and he's healthy so he should be good.

With all the stereotypes of football players especially the black ones I often think how hard it is to be a pro player with much more interest of the world (Art,Travel, Lititure, Poetry etc.) when the whole world just wants you to shut up and play football or only speak in cliche soundbites.

Players like him and Ricky Williams probably always felt trapped to some degree cause they couldnt really be themselves. He stressed that now he can do or say whatever he wants, no more getting in trouble for a political tweet.

I wish him the best of luck.

makes sense...RB's are usually washed by 27 anyway, so this retirement isnt premature by any means. These cats feel the burnt of what is equivalent to 20-30 car crashes a game....The NFL will destroy you if you're not careful and smart. Gotta listen to your body, and respect it. Hats off to Mendenhall, because his body was definitely breaking down.

if you're gonna play football, qb and RB are about the worst positions you could play.

I'll agree about RB, but why QB? they are so protected these days in the NFL. plus, they aren't taking punishment like that. and if you're half decent, you can :eat: til you in ur late 30's as a backup with minimal game action.
