Report her for what? Mental, verbal, emotional abuse can't result in a domestic violence charge.all those years and nobody in the family thought to check her for her abuse?you all are to blame as well for not reporting her ass.
I didn't know the extent of it. The son never talked about it. The mother covered it up, of course. My wife didn't know until like three years ago when he told her about it. So after she finds out, she e-mails and calls her sister. She ignores her for two months. Then, she responds in an e-mail, "Sorry, I was busy". That's it. Now, you have a previous victim of her abuse having to confront her abuser. I asked my wife, "That's it?" She responds, 'What else can I do?" It was like you can tell her she's lying. What is she doing for two months straight that she can't respond to you. She's ignoring you.

OP, I'm very sorry about your nephew. Coming from someone whos Mom was also a functioning retard, as you put it. The children always suffer, and there is nothing you can do about it. Child services were called, family members stepped in, but nothing can be done until the Mom wants to do it herself. It's very sad.
He was 23 when he told my wife about it all. He was an adult by then. There were issues when he was in high school, but he never disclosed that. The mother said he was having problems but was blaming it on the ex-husband. I asked if I could talk to him. You know, just out of courtesy, rather than speak directly to him. She said no, I don't need to. Now, that I look back at that, she was covering up for herself. They live in Philly. I don't know if the parents who also live in Philly knew the extent of it while he was growing up.Seems like your wife's family is weak

Weak? More like truth-covering. Why would an abusive person want to seen an abuser? They cover it up. Redirect fault. Never takes blame. You know like when an abused woman says her husband never punched her. She ran into his fist by accident. She's like that.

Another story... my wife tells me her sister (the stupid one) brought her son to the hospital to get his stomach pumped. This is years ago. He had taken half a bottle of sleeping pills. This is her story. He was having trouble sleeping recently so he started taking sleeping pills to help. When the normal number of pills didn't work, he took more. He kept on taking more when the previous number of pills wasn't effective. So this time around, he took a half a bottle.
It's like uh-huh, he was attempting suicide. She was trying to cover up because she probably said something of an abusive nature to where he then took a half bottle of sleeping pills to end it all. So now, she doesn't want the truth to get out, what she said and so on, so she fabricates this story. It's like no one takes a half bottle of sleeping pills who isn't attempting suicide.
Then, my wife is believing the whole story. I tell her what I believe that he was attempting suicide. She responds, "You've taken a double-dosage of cold medicine by accident so it wouldn't be a reach to say that he accidentally took too much." It's like what?!?! No one has ever attempted suicide with a double-dose of cold medicine, ever. Even a double-dose of sleeping pills is not even close to a half bottle. My wife didn't want to believe the truth. How do you argue with a past victim who doesn't want to push the envelope, so to speak.
